Since
1995, I have mostly used silk-screen printing for the creation
of distinctive home accessories. But five years ago, I began
working on a line of exclusive printed shirts for men and
women.
For
me silk-screening is a creative tool not only a production
tool, so all my shirts are individually printed using a combination
of two to six prints from different screens. This work is
very time consuming, but the result is a unique collage of
different images for each truly original shirt.
Every
winter, for the past few years, I have been able to fulfil
my passion for travelling. It was only a matter of time for
this overseas fascination to trickle into my work. Hence my
"Bon voyage!" line that explores the idea of leaving
and returning.
Each
trip has a deeper story making me focus on the narrative behind
the design as much as the print. Most of the pictures used
in my “C'est comme ça” line are from photographs that
I took in and around Toronto. I also always incorporate personal
writing suggestive of a specific anecdote, yet individual
to each piece and to its wearer.
All shirts are available
in Toronto by visiting me
directly and through retail shows
. Some of my work can be found at The Distillery at Millicent
Vee (55 Mills Street Suite106 416.534.1399) , Fresh
